Zentangle® is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. It provides artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal well being. Zentangle is enjoyed by people of all ages. Life is an art form and Zentangle is an elegant metaphor for deliberate artistry in life.
Margaret Bremner, a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) living in Saskatoon, beautifully and succinctly describes Zentangle in "The Art of Zentangle" published by WHOLifE magazine. Read it here!
Each Zentangle® kit includes two Pigma Micron® 01 black pens.
The Zentangle® art form and method were created by Renaissance man Rick Roberts who lived as a monk for many years, and world-renowned calligrapher, Maria Thomas. Rick and Maria wanted their Zentangle kit to include only the best materials and after extensive testing, selected a fine museum quality Italian paper and Sakura’s Pigma Micron pens. Pigma® ink was invented by Sakura over 25 years ago, and continues to be the most reliable permanent ink on the market today. Pigma ink is created using pigment molecules instead of dye molecules. Pigment molecules are 100 times larger and more chemically complex than dye molecules, which makes them less susceptible to UV rays, chemical degradation, pollution from contact with oils and other chemicals, etc. This makes Pigma ink inherently longer lasting than dye-based inks.
Pigma ink is used by artists, archivists, illustrators, laboratories, scrapbookers, and many others who consider preservation of prime importance. The ink is waterproof and chemical resistant, and dries to a neutral pH which protects the paper or substrate where it is used. You can find more information about Zentangle pen sets here.
